The BIG BEER List
Brews of considerable size and/or stature…
- Nebraska Brewing Fathead
- (Papillion, NE)
- Fathead started out as a Strong Scotch ale but has morphed over time into a Barleywine Territory. This beer features an addition of dark brown sugar to boost the alcohol and contribute a unique caramel/molasses character. Hopped with just enough Centennial and Cascade to offset the slight sweetness of this big, warming beer
- ABV is 11.2%
- 750ml bottle…$39.95
- Stone 10.10.10. Vertical Epic Ale
- (Escondido, CA)
- This ninth edition of our Stone Vertical Epic ale series takes two interesting left turns. A Belgian-Style golden Triple is the starting point of this beer, but the first left turn is nearly immediate with the edition of dried chamomile flowers, triticale and Belgian candi sugar. The second, and rather unusual left turn takes us half an hour up the road from Stone to Temecula courtesy of the addition of just pressed Muscat, Gewurztraminer and Sauvignon Blanc grapes from our friends at South Coast Winery. As the Epic series had moved through the calendar, we found that the brewing schedule for a 10.10.10 release coincided nicely with the grape harvest, neatly providing an interesting twist ion the epic ale.
- ABV is 9.5%
- 22 oz. bomber . . . $14.95
- Tröegs the Flying
Mouflan
- (Harrisburg, PA)
- The Flying Mouflan was #4 in the "Scratch Beer Series" begun by John and Chris Trogner and their brewing staff in 2007, producing one-offs based on recipes the brothers developed in the mid-’90s when they were considering opening a brewpub rather than a production brewery. The medal-win in Denver last October convinced the brothers to make the barleywine-style ale the first beer to come out of the Scratch program and be added to the production roster. ABV is 9.3%
22 oz. bottle…$15.95
- Caldera Kettle Series - Hopportunity Knocks
- (Ashland, OR)
- When hopportunity knocks, answer it. This ale is Caldera's rendition of answering the Pacific Northwest call for a @*! pile of Centennial hops with a big beer to back it up. Don't get left out in the cold, open up and fill the void within you..
- ABV is 6.8%
22 oz. bomber …$13.95
Bell's 25th Anniversary Ale
- (Comstock, MI)
- We started in 1985 with a soup pot, a dream, and quite honestly a prayer. Thank God we made it! Please enjoy this special American Strong Ale made with Michigan-grown barely malt and celebrate with us. ABV is 8.5%
12 oz. bottle …$9.95
Weyerbacher Fifteen
- (Easton, PA)
- This is a celebration of our fifteenth year making craft beer and it stands as an example of the bold flavorful beers that we have come to make. This is not a timid ale. It's an intense, full-bodied smoke experience. fifteen has a rich flavor profile balancing notes of dark roast, burnt toast, and spicy rye with a deep earthy aroma of smoke and wood. This beer should age nicely and be a smoky treasure for many years to come.
- ABV id 10.8%
12 oz. bottle …$8.95
- Dogfish Head World Wide Stout
- (Lewes, DE)
- World Wide Stout is one of the world's strongest dark beers. It is brewed using six different yeast strains over seven months and then aged for a half a year. Dark, rich, roasty and complex, World Wide Stout has more in common with a fine port than a can of cheap, mass-marketed beer.
- ABV is 18%
12 oz. bottle…$14.95
